Human Diaspora / The Dream Space Continuum  -- music and abstract animation

Visuals by Malin Abrahamsson, composition by David Bindman, performed by Wes Brown, contrabass, royal hartigan, drums, Art Hirahara, piano, Frank London, trumpet, Reut Regev, trombone, David Bindman, tenor saxophone

Supported in part by the Puffin Foundation, this animation was first presented with the ensemble live as part of The Dream Space Continuum at the College of Visual & Performing Arts, University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth in 2016. Human Diaspora celebrates the long view of how we became human – finding our way around glaciers and across deserts and oceans, yet still sharing aspirations for peace, home, and sustainable existence. The dream space is that internal place where unfettered creativity and contemplation take place. It is also the collective story that is passed along – from grandparents to mothers and fathers to us – and that we pass on.

Primarily a sculptor, Malin works in a variety of media and her art is seen in permanent public installations around NYC and Long Island, among other places. www.malinabrahamsson.com
